OverviewThis work shows how a group of Terena Indians migrated from Mato Grosso do Sul to northern Mato Grosso, based on their own narratives. In this process, we highlight the struggle for land, as well as the concern with preserving indigenous identity, education, culture, and their own learning processes. We seek to highlight how educational processes developed in this difficult context. We also emphasize the importance of Terena culture and the need to preserve it for this group. Through this book, it is possible to see that the Terena community has a constant concern for childhood education, which is deeply marked by the cultural values defended by the group. Children are highly valued and seen as social and political agents, and it is in them that the hopes for the preservation of their culture, language, and traditions are placed. Within these issues, the school-community-based, intercultural, bilingual, specific, and differentiated-takes on a prominent role in the villages as a place of resistance and reorganization for the indigenous people.
