Overview

The use of renewable energies in Iran is very important due to the limited fossil energy resources and the problems caused by greenhouse gas emissions. In 2015, more than 60 percent of the energy consumed in Iran was supplied by oil and gas. Given that Iran is one of the countries rich in renewable energy resources in the Middle East, the use of these resources can help reduce dependence on fossil resources, reduce pollutant gas emissions, increase energy security and economic development.
