OverviewThis poem, illustrated with black & white drawings, serves a a jaunty vehicle for relating some of the history of the Ticonderoga, one of the last steamboats that was afloat on Vermont's Lake Champlain. The Ti is now restored and resting on land at the Shelburne Museum. The book is primarily written for children, and provides the opportunity to tell some of the true boyhood experiences of Jerry Aske, the former owner of the Shelburne Shipyard, once home to the Ti. The poem and emotive drawings relate some of Jerry's adventures during that time, as told to PBS when interviewed shortly before his death.
