Overview

The year is 1885. Lucky McKenna and Chance Rudd, from the previous book, The Secret of the White Monkey's Tomb, are back again! These two buddies are three years older now, and are living on a ranch outside of San Diego with their benefactors Joseph and Muriel Beach. Little do they know that very soon they will be having another big adventure as they sneak and hide their way up the coast of Northern California. Their close friend at the ranch, a Chinese girl named Lilli, has suddenly been caught up in very bad situation and they have lost all contact with her. Lucky and Chance have only a few details to go on, but are determined to find her, one way or the other. Despite the warnings of the many dangers that lurk ahead of them, they leave their happy home determined to do whatever they need to do to find their friend.
