A Japanese artist based in the Lake District, UK. A graduate of Osaka University of Arts and raised as an orphan in Aichi, Japan, Sobue cultivates a distinctive practice in painting and drawing. His original line hatching method―rooted in Florentine Renaissance Disegno, Eastern artistic traditions, and neurological insight―forms a nuanced visual language. Through this synthesis, Sobue explores the complexities of human experience, striving to bridge Eastern and Western sensibilities. To date, Sobue has received four grants from Arts Council England and has collaborated with various organisations, including the National Trust, the John Ruskin Foundation, Lancaster University, the Wordsworth Trust, Itami City Art Museum Kakimori Bunko, the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation, and Rydal Mount, to realise his art projects. Sobue's works are currently held in public and private collections in Japan, China, Britain, the Netherlands, Australia, Canada, and the USA. This is his first-ever picture book. ｜ イギリス湖水地方を拠点に活動する日本人美術家。愛知県出身、大阪芸術大学卒（奨学生）。孤児として高校卒業まで養護施設で暮らす。絵画とドローイングにおいて独自の表現を追求し、フィレンツェ・ルネサンスのディセーニョ（素描）に根ざした線描法に、東洋の美意識と脳生理学的洞察を融合させた独創的なハッチング技法を確立。この総合的なアプローチを通じて、人間存在の神秘を探り、西洋と東洋、その長大な美術遺産と現代の知とを繋ぐ表現の可能性を探究している。これまでに英国芸術協議会より４度の助成を受け、ナショナル・トラストをはじめ、ジョン・ラスキン財団、ランカスター大学、ワーズワース・トラスト、公益財団法人柿衛文庫（市立伊丹ミュージアム）、大和日英基金、ライダル・マウントなど、様々な公的機関との協賛でプロジェクトを成功させてきた。現在、イギリス国内のパブリック・コレクション、および日本、イギリス、オランダ、カナダ、オーストラリア、アメリカ合衆国、中国にプライベート・コレクションがある。本作は、ソブエにとって初の絵本作品である。
