When you can no longer drive, take care of yourself, work, write; ordinary things are no longer taken for granted. This happened to Jacqueline Servais, author of The Surgery after suffering from complications from a simple tennis elbow surgery. She had gathered her energy to write this book. The surgery was an impressive reconstruction of an eleven-year old injury, interwoven with the way lawyers and physicians. But above all, it is a story about a woman who was dissatisfied with her situation; how she fights for independence and justice. Jacqueline Servais (1951) was born in Heerlen, Limburg. Until 1995, she worked as a teacher of Household and Health Sciences at the MBO - HBO. Although she still suffers daily from the effects of surgery, she does everything to enjoy her favorite hobby: writing.
