Table of ContentsReviews""The Summer Knows is a delightful and exhilarating novel that will remind you of why you started reading in the first place-to be enchanted, to be carried away from your world and dropped into a world more vivid and redemptive than the one you're living in. Sarah E. Pearsall knows that every story is many stories, and one of those stories is 'You can go home again.' She writes with intelligence, grace, and tenderness. She breathes life into Adrienne, Kali, and Quinn, and they will breathe life into you."" -John Dufresne, author of My Darling Boy ""As sensual as the touch of a beach breeze, The Summer Knows immerses readers in the sights, sounds, and scents of a summer at the shore. Heroine Adrienne takes us with her as she fishes, cooks, and falls in love with the rich boy next door. All the emotions are here: the headiness of first love, the invincibility of youth, the burn of salt water and rejection. Author Sarah E. Pearsall hits a home run with her debut, crafting a novel that is perfect for fans of Elin Hilderbrand and the Gilmore Girls."" -Jami Denison, reviewer, Chick Lit Central ""The Summer Knows is a masterful exploration of memory, identity, and the ties that bind us to people and places, even when we try to outrun them. Yet for all its nostalgia and melancholy, The Summer Knows is ultimately a story about healing and hope. A beautifully written, emotionally resonant novel that lingers long after the last page. Sarah E. Pearsall is a storyteller of rare depth and compassion."" -Laura McDermott, author of Visions on Alligator Alley ""The Summer Knows is a tour de force of a novel. In Sarah Pearsall's expertly created world of the imagination, the reader is drawn into a haunting story that is both captivating and believable. She weaves memories flawlessly into the story of a single mother at a crossroads who must confront a painful past. This is the quintessential beach read and will have you sitting at the edge of your beach towel, turning pages furiously to get to the next chapter. I highly recommend this book."" -Jan Becker, author of The Sunshine Chronicles ""The Summer Knows by Sarah E. Pearsall immerses you in a thoughtfully crafted world, where haunting and romantic past stories collide with the current grim reality for lead character Adrienne Harris. The novel is a true page-turner that makes you want to just give up on all other activities and read the whole thing cover to cover. A delightful read."" -Krista Martinelli, founder and editor of AroundWellington.com, the online publication for good news! ""Sarah E. Pearsall's debut novel dives deeply into the sometimes desperate need for redemption, self-discovery, forgiveness, and place. Alternating between intensity, deep reflection, and tenderness, The Summer Knows shares the complexities of family, community, and the pasts we all possess but occasionally seek to ignore. There's a commonality in this, a mosaic of the inevitable tension between the present, the past, and the potential to reauthor what might lie ahead. This is a splendid read, and one that promises the beginning of a literary journey by an author worth following."" -Greg Fields, author of The Bright Freight of Memory, American Writing Award-winner for Literary Fiction Author InformationSarah E.
