Overview

Rosie is a 7-year-old girl from Kentucky who meets 62-year-old Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Kailash Satyarthi from India. Rosie loves to read biographies about her heroes, but she can't find even one book about this man who has dedicated his life to saving children from slavery and delivering them to a life of freedom and education. Rosie is so inspired by Kailash Satyarthi, she must write his story for other children. Rosie wants children around the world to know about Kailash Satyarthi and his work. She tells this story in her own 7-year-old voice. Rosie wants to be a dream-maker and a world-changer like Kailash Satyarthi. Rosie describes how Kailash Satyarthi saves children from slavery. Kailash Satyarthi is her hero. She meets Kailash Satyarthi when he comes to visit her public school. Kailash Satyarthi tells Rosie that they are not so different from one another. They both love children. Rosie shares what she learns from this peacemaker who is now her friend.

Rosie Katz is the author of The Story of How I Met Kailash Satyarthi. Rosie is 7-years-old and in the second grade. She was inspired to write this book by Kailash Satyarthi's visit to her school. Rosie enjoys reading books, writing stories, dancing and playing with her dogs. She lives in Kentucky with her parents and her brothers. She loves to eat strawberries! This is her first book.
