My mother was a special education teacher, so I know how stressful and busy a teacher's life can be. Ryan Racine's short book deftly distills Stoic theory and practice for busy teachers so they can start applying it to their lives ASAP. Each chapter is targeted to specific challenges that teachers face, and end-of-chapter reflections along with exercise templates allow the reader to get the hang of Stoic practice almost immediately. - Gregory Lopez, Author A Handbook for New Stoics The Stoic Teacher by Ryan Racine will not only inspire you to come to school with the strength to overcome obstacles, but it will also equip you with 'Mental hacks' that will get you through even the worst days. From mindset to self-care, the Stoic Teacher gives us a fresh perspective and a new approach to becoming the educator that we set out to be at the beginning of our career. - Robert Dunlop, Author Strive for Happiness in Education This book is so readable, applicable and approachable that I read it in one sitting, all the while thinking about how the virtues of Wisdom, Justice, Courage and Temperance described in the book, apply in coaching and speaking. The book in your hands is a guide to the basic principles of Stoicism, a guide to the application of those principles in real everyday life, and a gentle reminder to be our best, even when things around us are not. - Ruth Pearce, CIO ALLE LLC, Coach, Speaker, Author The Stoic Teacher: Ancient Mind Hacks to Help Educators Foster Resiliency, Optimism, and Inner Calm, goes beyond the usual books on pedagogy and instead shows us how to maintain our own sense of equanimity and true inner peace in an increasingly challenging classroom. By drawing on stoic philosophy to streamline our energy and focus in on what we can and can't control, Ryan Racine gives real, hands-on guidance aimed to embolden our courage and mend our weary spirits, as teachers. - Donna Quesada, author Buddha in the Classroom Ryan Racine's The Stoic Teacher is a quick, value-packed read and is organized in a way that teachers will appreciate. Each chapter is on-point and relevant, and each contains actionable homework that will help transform Stoic concepts into daily practice. The stoic practice that Ryan lays out has the power to positively change how you approach life in and out of the classroom. - Jeff MacLoud, Teacher, School Director
