OverviewThe Star-Spangled Banner was inspired by the Battle of Baltimore. In 1814 a man named Francis Scott Key witnessed the British attach on Baltimore's Fort McHenry and wrote a poem about his experiences. The poem later became lyrics for the Star-Spangled Banner. The first verse of the original poem is sung throughout America today, and is the inspiration for our illustrated story.
