Overview

"My Elder and mentor in ministry who happens to be my father-in-law, Pastor Marisa taught me something timeless concerning marriage. He ministered from the Biblical text of Isaac and Rebekah, when the former entreated God for his wife, because she was barren. God hearkened to his prayer and Rebekah conceived. I would like to believe that it was towards the beginning of her third trimester when her fetuses were developed enough to leap and kick in the womb, but something strange and unusual was sickening her. A tussle was brewing in her womb and soon began to rage. Since she was a first time mother, she grappled with confusion. Soon enough she remembered the God of her husband Isaac. ""If He is the one who gave me this pregnancy, then he must certainly know everything going on in my belly."" She thought. She paced towards the same altar her husband worshiped from, then spread her hands toward heaven, totally surrendered to her Maker. Let's hear the rendition of Moses the man of God to the whole matter. ""And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived. And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD."" Genesis 25:21-22 Just as Isaac, sought for a blessing (fruit) of the womb for his wife from God, most people are seeking the blessing of marriage in God. However, soon after receiving the blessing when the vicissitudes of marital life overtake them, they begin to lament like Rebekah: ""If marriage is a blessing, why am I thus?"" Your marriage could be in such a dire state because you, your spouse or both of you collectively may be ignoring attending to the spiritual needs of your marriage. Like a baby who hasn't garnered defined speech, every cry is an attempt to alert the parents of something important to it. It can be hunger, pain or need for attention. Our marriages operate the same, read the entire book and you will discover the needs that your marriage is crying for. Once you attend to those needs, you will live your marriage in bliss, peace and quiet."
