On the sunlit plains of South Africa, a baby giraffe named Jabu is born with dazzling golden spots that sparkle in the light, While her parents delight in her spectacular design, the rest of the herd is afraid-- causing Jabu (and her parents) to be rejected. Jabu realizes that her family is not safe being separated from the herd. Jabu bravely sets out on her own, hoping the herd will take Mama and Papa back if she leaves.
