OverviewSpecialists have long misunderstood the Soviet ""command economy"" because they misapply economic concepts like prices, profits, and growth to analyze a system whose command of production is catalyzed by the very destruction of the phenomena instantiating those concepts. That is: destroying the quality 'economic' in production to command 'the economy'. 'Prices' were set by Gosplan and production targets could be forcibly met, compelling rapid industrialization at the cost of chronic shortages, inefficiency, and incalculable suffering. Those costs, including further: bottlenecks, catastrophic quality, and terror, were not flaws-they were rather required operating costs (and tools) of an operating system committed to socialist production. Derived from a praxeological-deductive framework, The Soviet War on Economy lays the groundwork for a penetrating new analysis of seemingly familiar terrain using a new system-invariant toolset (the paradigm of anti-Economy). That toolset yields deep, compelling new insights into the operation of the so-called Soviet ""command economy"", a new paradigm with which to analyze the destruction and system-integral utility of Soviet atrocities, and to further understand the way that these phenomena decisively impelled Soviet war preparations and war-making in that period. The Soviet Union was a rapidly expanding, growth-negative terror-state that crippled production to command and expand it. It was a state whose OS impelled it to cripple its military because of the total war it was systemically required to wage against its own subjects to sustain rising production. Stalin's Soviet Union bought industrialization on a colossal scale and achieved significant feats in terms of production and on the battlefield. The demonstrably greater human and economic cost to achieve it, however, was systemically necessary to secure those comparatively smaller gains.
