The Song of the Forest: a poetry artbook on nature improvised in watercolors

Overview

I wrote these poems asking myself-what truth could I learn from trees. There is a feeling when you go into nature, that connection, that sense of belonging, that seems to arise from the songs of the birds, from the insects, from the wind and leaves. This feeling is intrinsic to being human, evolving from our origin in nature. We can no longer hear our own selves, our own desires, or each other. We feel disconnected. Our inner nature grows less and less natural. The song of the forest unheard. These poems reminders to listen. This is the grayscale edition, with all interior images printed in black and white. Clothing has been digitally added to figures. 174 pages of poetry ( 88 poems ) complemented by 98 original watercolor paintings printed in black and white. All artwork was created live to real jazz, funk and hip hop, featuring local San Diego musicians. Poems are in readable 14 point type.
