Overview

In 1982, Harry Rasky made the film The Song of Leonard Cohen, now recognised as a classic in documentary filmmaking. Recently, Leonard Cohen was in touch with Rasky and, inspired by that conversation, Rasky has recreated the text of the film, the diaries, and the interviews upon which the film is based to present a moving and powerful text on Leonard Cohen. In addition, the book also contains Rasky's never-before-published diaries on Bob Dylan - source material for a documentary that was never completed - which reveals the peculiar interconnection between the two poets and songwriters who have, between them, helped shape the course of music history and defined the sensibility of two generations.
