Reviews

-This text for advanced courses is a highly significant contribution to the sociology of law, as both a teaching aid and a foundation for identifying promising lines of theory development. It is the most coherent introduction available to the range of theoretical approaches, offering critical insights as well as descriptive summaries and examples.- --Austin T. Turk, Department of Sociology, University of California, Riverside -This is a most useful and valuable text, not only for the ideas and thoughts that it contains, but also for its easy style in dealing with sociolegal concepts, perspectives, and theories.- --Abdol-Reza Alizadeh, Faculty of Law, University of Tehran -This well-constructed text is a solid guide through the foundational traditions in the sociology of law, as well as through a number of important contemporary perspectives. The thoughtful summaries of these theories will enlighten students by challenging them to think analytically about law in society.- --Peter Cleary Yeager, Department of Sociology, Boston University This text for advanced courses is a highly significant contribution to the sociology of law, as both a teaching aid and a foundation for identifying promising lines of theory development.
