The Editors: Barry J. Hake is a researcher in the field of comparative studies in the social history of adult education. He has undertaken teaching and research at universities throughout Europe. He is currently an independent consultant at the European level. Francoise F. Laot is lecturer at the University Paris Descartes and researcher at the CERLIS (centre of research on social links). Her works in history of adult education and training led her to work on two periods: the end of the 19th century and the post Second World War in France. Les responsables de la publication : Barry J. Hake est chercheur dans le domaine des etudes comparatives en histoire sociale de l'education des adultes. Il a enseigne et mene des recherches dans plusieurs universites d'Europe. Il est actuellement consultant independant au plan europeen. Francoise F. Laot est maitre de conferences a l'universite Paris Descartes et chercheure au CERLIS (Centre de recherche sur les liens sociaux). Ses travaux en histoire de l'education et de la formation des adultes l'ont amenee a travailler sur deux periodes : la fin du XIXe siecle et l'apres deuxieme guerre mondiale en France.
