ANNE KELLY is Lecturer in Primary Health Care and Public Health at the University of Wales, Swansea. She specialises in the management and implementation of preventive care. ANTHEA SYMONDS is Lecturer in Social Policy at the University of Wales, Swansea, and with the Open University. She specialises in aspects of health policy with a special interest in the gendered nature of the care professions and their socio-historical development.
