A cozy mystery: Agatha Christie meets Monty Python. In a privileged Los Angeles suburb, a substitute teacher solves the mystery of missing students and murder on campus. Sherlock Holmes says, ""There's nothing more deceptive than an obvious fact."" Ruth Doyle identifies herself as a graduate of Stony Estancia High School, but there's no record of her. Goleta Hardcastle disappears after her 18th birthday. The students organize the Sleuth Club to find her. All this happens at a top-ranked high school with a five-star cafeteria in a city incubating an artificial intelligence start-up destined for a billion-dollar stock offering. Zarand's invisible sidekick, Fitch, remarks, 'Too many fingers and not enough pie.' Zarand agrees. He watches the crowd, waiting for the opportune time to act.
