The Skeleton's Within

Overview

Born and bred in rural Jamaica, Anne O' Kayè sees the arts as a source of unbridled expression. Ergo, she uses it as she flutters through the past in a frenzied dash to uncover the face that haunts her daily. The author of ""The Skeleton's Within,"" invites readers to unfold the pages of memory. As she chisels out the tenor from this world, she urges readers to seek the excluded harmonies that will expose the undertones of imagination clashed with the auto-tunes of reality. She also warns readers to be prepared for the brutality of the truth, as well as her thoughts on the agonizing pathways of the past and the weight and suffering that the future can bring. As a result, the anthology covers a wide range of subjects, including love and abuse. She takes a chance by moving out of her comfort zone and painting unfiltered feelings and ideals in the hopes of producing an astounding work that will be compelling enough to charm everyone who dares to read and journey with her. She does this with the understanding that if a drowning man clutches at straws, then a poet clutches at a microphone, knowing that they will sink without ink and parchment.

Author Information

Anne O'Kayé is a dedicated individual who, throughout a decade, has attempted to understand various subjects, including criminology, history, and the arts. She is a voracious reader and spoken word aficionado; among her favorite authors are: James Patterson, Edwidge Danticat, Rick Riordan, J.K Rowling, Steven King, Danielle Steel, and Robert Thier. Her favourite poets span from various structures and free forms. Her initial love of the craft started with the members of the rhetoric poetry group Passion for Christ ministries, more specifically the piece 'Ready or Not' performed by Janet Ikz and Ezekiel Azonwu. Her penchant for the craft is stoked by her enthusiasm for creativity and has been a place of peace, a safe haven and one of many driving forces for her. While she acknowledges that she hasn't yet achieved what she aspires to, she remains grateful for the opportunities she has had and the potential she has discovered within herself.Anne's guiding maxim, influenced by the quote from W.E.B. Du Bois, is that ""There is no force greater than or equal to a woman who is determined to rise."" She has maintained that such a woman is formidable, resilient, ambitious, and with God by her side, she is without a doubt destined for great things. Anne also emphasizes that women are only as strong as those around them, as potent as their prayers, and as devoted as they are allowed to be. In addition to her various interests, she enjoys drawing and performing her own unique poems on YouTube. Born in Toronto and guided by her Jamaican heritage, Stacey Marie Robinson is a communications specialist, entertainment enthusiast, and music lover.
