The Significance of the Curiously Dispassionate Lives of Black Folks: How they're constructed by other sorrowful lamenters toiling amidst the ""ruins"" of slavery

Overview

In America, the first slaves in great numbers were Caucasian, called ""Indentured Servants"". Indentured Servitude began in the U.S. in the 1600s in Virginia when wealthy owners of land paid the passage for Irish and other European laborers to come to America. But terrible ""strings"" were attached to these agreements which were generally terms of from three to seven years of free labor. Often, the work was exceptionally strenuous with long hours, and often terrible working and living conditions identical to slavery. During most of the 17th century the Indentured were mostly White English men and women with a few Africans, Irish and Indians-all under indenture contracts but having been promised their freedom. History reveals that according to an 1839 census in South Carolina, 464 free Black slaves owned 2,215 slaves and close to 78% of Black families owned slaves, and Black slaveowners were thought to have owned White slaves bound by such a contract. ""The Significance of the Curiously ..."" hoping to divine a reason for the perpetuity of such a brazen lack of reason by an otherwise sane populace and how it was able to contort its vision to frown upon and then look away from the horrors of bondage? A boon is begged: who will say why no one has risen with sufficient strength even now to yank free of the insane, esoteric insanity still binding the unwelcome with bleeding, trembling reins of invisible iron; keeping all locked in rigid steps to remain emotionally and psychologically linked to his hellish value for you: Lesser. Someone has soothed away the first slave revolt in 1526, eased it from all memory, even those who remain commonly haunted in some respect by the ""... ruins of slavery.""
