OverviewWant to better understand how the U.S. and eight swing states changed from Blue (Democratic) to Red (Republican) between 2008 and 2016? This full-color report explores the seven strategic pitfalls that compassionate Progressives need to understand and avoid so that they can win future elections. If we want to reverse regressive policies, we must elect more Progressives in the next two elections. The author, Dr. Marilynn Baker, strategically analyzes long-term U.S. voter trends with special emphasis on the eight swing states that voted for Barack Obama in 2008 and Donald Trump in 2016. Understanding the critical factors that influence swing voters is critical to Progressives winning elections, especially in swing districts and states. This report examines the strategic impact of demographics (political and ideological, as well as ethnicity), geography (urban, suburban, rural), religiosity (White Evangelicals, Other Christians, Other Faiths), and candidate character on election results. The report identifies important trends and connections that Progressives need to know -- and work to change -- if we want to make the U.S. progressive again.
