Gary Dean Petersen is a lifetime learner, teacher, world traveler, avid reader, runner and football fan with a strong proficiency in the German language. He holds various teaching certifications, including in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Generalist for Grades 4 to 8, and English as a Second Language. During 2019, he served as an adjunct chemistry lab professor at a Texas university, a STEM tutor at a high school in Kenya and at a Texas junior high school. He holds a Bachelor's degree in computer science and a Master's degree in geology, and he has recently been working toward an advanced degree in physics. He holds several professional memberships, including in the Geological Society of Hong Kong, the West Texas Geological Society and the American Chemical Society. He is currently serving on the board of a Rotary club in West Texas and stays connected with other former staff of Junior Achievement. Mr. Petersen's marriage of more than fifty years has blessed him with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
