The Seduction of Edith: The Prairie Years

Overview

The Seduction of Edith: The Prairie Years follows Edith Mary Williams, a young bride who leaves her home in Wales for the harsh and unfamiliar landscape of early-1900s Manitoba. As she struggles to adapt to life in a sod house, the demands of farming, and her new marriage to Percy Nelson, Edith carries with her memories of the past and longings for what might have been. Spanning thirty years, from farm life to business life in town, this is a story about a woman learning to balance the rigours of pioneering with her private emotional battles, particularly her longing for ""the one that got away,"" a past love, Matty. Edith navigates marriage, motherhood, wartime, farming, business, and illness during a complex period of history, in a world that feels both isolating and full of possibility
