My dear brother Walid LounEs Bouzerar (may Allah preserve him and look after him) sent me this collection of poetry that expresses love for the Beloved Prophet and Physician ﷺ. After reading it I said to myself ﴾Verily I smell the scent of Yūsuf﴿ (12:94); looking at some of its verses, I smelled the fragrant scent of love for Allah Most High and love for His Messenger a and his Pure Family, especially our masters from the People of the Cloak (Ahl al-Kisāʾ--Sayyidunā ʿAlī, Fāṭima, al-Ḥasan, and al-Ḥusayn), peace be upon them, and his pure wives from the Mothers of the Believers, especially our liege lady and beloved mother Khadīja, and our liege lady and mother ʿĀʾisha Umm ʿAbdillāh (may Allah be pleased with them and make them well-pleased), and his senior most Companions, especially our master Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq (may Allah be pleased with him and make him well-pleased). I say that Walid has gathered goodness entirely, so praise be to Allah by whose grace all good things come to fruition! I ask Allah Most High to grant Walid success in what He loves and is pleased with, and to accept this work and make it sincerely for His Noble sake. Such is in Allah's power, and all praise is due to Allah the Lord of the Worlds.

The Secret of Divine Alchemy: In Praise of the Most Beloved by the young poet Walid Lounes Bouzerar is a rhapsodic and courageous declaration of love for the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and give him peace, in an age that has largely lost touch with spiritual passion so essential to attaining Divine knowledge in the Way of Islam. There is a consensus among all the masters of the Way that the seeker can never achieve transcendence and perfect his or her faith without intense love for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. And it is through the constant invocation of blessings upon the Prophet that this love takes hold of the heart of the believer. And this love carries the heart to the intimate presence of God. Bouzerar, through this collection, provides a living and often moving example of a seeker flooding his heart and soul with loving remembrance and praise of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. His poems invoke the classical tropes used by the ancient sages: Our praise of him is but a mirror Reflecting the Ocean of his Light O Allah, this Light You have named Muhammad I stand before those men- Those men whose hearts have been consumed Drenched in these Ahmadan manifestations I stand in awe My heart bewildered These are not flights of fancy but songs of a genuine traveller on the Path. I first met the poet in the Zawiya of Shaykh Muhammad ibn Al-Habib, may God be well pleased with him, in Meknes, in the presence of an astounding and wild majdhoub who commanded us to invoke praise on the Prophet Muhammad 500,000 times. When I made this invocation I witnessed the Prophet 80 times! the majdhoub exclaimed. These are the expressions of a true seeker who has filled his life with remembrance and love and the company of the lovers. The soulless and heretical manifestations of Islam that have led to extremist atrocities carried out under a black flag, have alienated the world and driven many young Muslims to an emotional atheism that rejects religion altogether. The nafs is inclined to extremist tendencies by nature Islam came to subdue them The one who uses the outer shell to feed the whims of his nafs Is bereft of its expansive inner dimensions. Subjected and enslaved to literalism and forms Bereft of its mercy and metamorphic properties Deprived of the Lights bursting through Proximity The soul is like an orphan Distanced from the Presence of its Lord Bouzerar's collection presents an antidote to this virus and luminous and heartful alternative to this dark vision.
