OverviewThis study presents the results of an analysis of the vertebrate fauna from Megalo Nisi Galanis, a site that spans the Late Neolithic-Early Bronze Age divide. The site is located in western Greek Macedonia. The goals of this volume are twofold. The first aim is to present a detailed analysis of the zooarchaeological remains from Megalo Nisi Galanis. This will enhance our overall understanding of animal exploitation strategies and taphonomy of sites and bone assemblages from this relatively poorly known span of time and region in the southern Balkans. Few studies consider the taphonomy of assemblages and their effect on interpretations of past behaviour. Second, and ultimately just as important, the analysis uses the data to examine some of the crucial problems surrounding the geographic origins and timing of the appearance of the Secondary Products Revolution, as it spreads through the Balkan Peninsula.
