OverviewThis book explains that the world is at a transition stage from representative democracy and capitalism to the next political and economic system that involves changing the way work is done, from humans using machines developed after the Industrial Revolution to AI, robotics, quantum mechanics, and quantum computing (ARQQ) as the main mode of making our living. It also means that fossil-based energy sources that have been used since the Industrial Revolution are changing to those that do not use them. The chaotic scene we see in our society is a manifestation of people's dissatisfaction and anger with the political and economic conditions they live under. In order to see how today's chaotic conditions have happened, the book goes back to ancient Athens, the origin of Western civilization, and traces major political and economic events down to today's American political and economic events. The book also analyzes the problems of the current economic system. The book claims that they are the byproducts of the antiquated Constitution and non-functional economic system. Based on the findings, the book proposes new political and economic systems of the United States, which other countries can copy. The proposed political system, which the author calls direct participatory democracy, is a modified and improved version of direct democracy that was practiced in ancient Athens, and the proposed economic system, which the author calls happinessism, is a modified and improved version of happinessism that was practiced in ancient Athens. In the direct participatory democracy of New America, the country is divided into as many as 100 regions unified under the federal government; people in each region will run the regional government as they please with certain restrictions; at both levels of government, a large number of randomly selected voters are invited to legislative sessions, and the members of Congress will deliberate the bills, but the randomly selected voters will determine whether the bill will pass or not. In the happinessism of New America, randomly selected interviewers will interview voters, and the interviewers will take a statistically significant number of samples of how happy people are in the region and the nation. The leaders of the region and the nation are mandated to maximize the happiness of the people. Subjects discussed in the political system of New America include the need for stronger legislative power over the other branches, the need for a nonpolitical federal court system, and so on, a total of 16 subjects. Subjects discussed in the economic system of New America include the need to stop the ever-growing gap between the rich and the poor, the need to solve the problem of the continually increasing national debt, the need for a better monetary policy, the need to improve the healthcare system, the need for a secure border, and so on, a total 28 subjects. This book not only discusses the need for those improvements but also discusses how to fix them. If the proposal to fix the monetary policy is accepted and the new system starts in Fiscal Year 2024, the American economy will grow around 10 percent a year, and America's GDP will surpass $60 trillion by Fiscal Year 2034; everybody will receive non-taxable $8,400 in the first year and $21,800 on the 10th year; all medical and dental expenses will become free, and college students will receive $15,000 a year, and the highest income tax bracket rate will become 25 percent. The money is also used for the mitigation of global warming. The advanced economies of the world will spend over $2.7 trillion in the next 30 years, and the world will go into hydrogen-based civilization within the next ten years and will be able to complete the process to transition to a hydrogen-based economy within the next 30 years and also fulfill zero CO2 emissions during that time.
