OverviewNelson, a great black-backed seagull, lies under an upturned boat on a beach in Dubai. A deep gash on his back is attracting flies that eagerly feed on the wound. Unable to move, the magnificent bird lies waiting for death to bring him relief from the pain. But fate intervenes. David, a twelve year old boy, hears the gull's weak cries and convinces his mother and stepfather to take Nelson home with them. This simple act of compassion sparks a chain of events that puts David and his family on a collision course with a corrupt businessman and a private eye who are determined to have them thrown out of Dubai. However, when a member of the royal family steps into the fray, matters reach an unexpected conclusion. But sometimes you have to risk everything, your heart won't let you do otherwise. Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationDiane van der Westhuizen is an author who jumped off the office hamster wheel to use a passion she had ignored for many years - writing. She has nipped, tucked, polished and honed her skills until she has become a writer who, at the least, is not embarrassed by the work she produces. She has written three books: Wild Avengers, The Seagull and the Sheik and Chilli Bites (a collection of 'biting' short stories). She has been lucky enough to have had articles published in South Africa's most widely-read family magazine and a chapter of The Sheik and the Seagull (in its previous incarnation as The Friendly Desert) included in an anthology of new writers published by New London Writers. She is currently working on a supernatural thriller, God Forbid, which she aims to complete by the end of 2016. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
