The Score

Overview

The story begins with a prophecy of a young woman's dark destiny... As foretold, she must follow her heart. Even if this leads to the depths of despair. Finally, in a reversal of dominance, women write the rules and design a future society in their favour. Fembourne is a world in which there are no unwanted pregnancies. Safety and choice are cultural priorities. Fatherhood is a serious contractual obligation. To become a father, a man must meet certain criteria and be scored as worthy. Most men raised in Fembourne accept the score. All except Sophia's lover, Mark. He pressures her to make him an exception. She is Maiden of the ruling Triune and has the power to approve any application for a man to become a father. Above all else, Sophie wants to make Mark happy. But, at what cost?

Author Information

Kaybee Pearson relies on a life rich in human dramas to write stories challenging mainstream narratives. She shares a property in the wilds of rural Tasmania (Latikikithika country) with feral and native creatures including her small family and a scruffy poodle named Bailey. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Communication Studies (Journalism). Her work history includes beekeeping, reading tarot cards, child raising, legal secretarial work, and management consulting in the private and public sectors. Zaire Hammond aka Lisa Bolton aka Skulptre, a Tasmanian artist, divides her time between sculpting ceramics, reading, editing, collaborative writing, and caring for a motley crew of children, goats, chickens and a rescue cat called Kismet. As if that wasn't enough, she is qualified in multi modalities of natural medicine, horticulture and the arts. She enjoys cooking, drinking tea, permaculture gardening, creating and running workshops in her many areas of interest. She believes there needs to be at least four clones of her to get everything done.
