Overview

This book contains graphs showing the forces and accelerations associated with running, jumping, and throwing. Of special focus include the motions required for hurdles, high jump, and long jump, as well as throwing a discus, hammer, javelin, and shot put. These data can be used for lesson plans by teachers and parents. Note: These data were collected using lightweight track and field equipment, and with constrained physical exertion, due to limitations of lab space, equipment, and safety considerations. Most throws were limited to 14 feet. Actual forces generated in competitive track and field events are larger.
