Monsignor Krzysztof Jozef Nykiel, born in 1965 in Osjakow, Poland, was ordained a priest in 1990 in the Archdiocese of Lodź. After obtaining a degree in theology at the Theological Academy of Warsaw, in 2001 he was awarded a doctorate in canon law at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. Since 1995 he has worked for the Holy See and since 2012 he has been the Regent of the Apostolic Penitentiary. He teaches canon law at the Faculty of Canon Law of the Pontifical Gregorian University and is involved in pastoral activity at the Parish of St. Anne of Passoscuro. Monsignor Nykiel is Postulator of the causes of beatification and canonization of the Venerable Servant of God Wanda N. Malczewska of the Archdiocese of Lodź (Poland), and of the Venerable Sister Mary Julitta Ritz of the Diocese of Wurzburg (Germany). He has published numerous scholarly and pastoral articles, edited collections of essays, and has been a speaker and moderator at many symposiums, seminars and conferences.
