Author Information

Eric Friginal is Professor of Applied Linguistics at the Department of Applied Linguistics and ESL and Director of International Programs at the College of Arts and Sciences, Georgia State University (GSU), USA. He specializes in applied corpus linguistics, language policy and planning, technology and language teaching, sociolinguistics, crosscultural communication, discipline- specifi c writing, and the analysis of spoken professional discourse. His recent publications include Corpus Linguistics for English Teachers: New Tools, Online Resources, and Classroom Activities (Routledge, 2018); English in Global Aviation: Context, Research, and Pedagogy (with Elizabeth Mathews and Jennifer Roberts, 2019); and Advances in Corpus-based Research on Academic Writing: Effects of Discipline, Register, and Writer E|xpertise (co-edited with Ute Römer and Viviana Cortes, 2020). He is the founding co-editor-in-chief of Applied Corpus Linguistics (ACORP) Journal (with Paul Thompson). Jack A. Hardy is Assistant Professor of Linguistics at Oxford College of Emory University, USA. There, he teaches linguistics and introductory statistics to first- and second-year undergraduate liberal arts students. His research interests include corpus linguistics, discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, academic writing, and faculty development. His publications include Corpus-based Sociolinguistics (Routledge, with Eric Friginal, 2014) and articles in the Journal of English for Academic Purposes, Across the Disciplines, and Corpora.
