The Route 66 Detective in Missouri

Overview

WWI Vet Mac McCarty has a new calling as a detective. His territory? Route 66. Mysterious Mac McCarty, former WWI flying ace, cruises Route 66 on his motorcycle in search of the missing and the dead. After the danger of chasing targets in the sky, roaming the devastated landscape of Europe on a decommissioned Triumph Model H and racing on the murderdromes of the board track circuit back in the states, he settles down to the life of a private investigator. The year is 1937, and he finds the so-called ""Main Street of America"" isn't always as wholesome as it sounds. In the first book of the Route 66 mystery series, Mac travels through Missouri looking for the son of a wealthy zinc mine owner. He quickly finds himself immersed in the world of Kansas City gangsters, Ozark moonshine, and murder. With the help of a captivating motel owner, Mac plays hard, rides hard, and works hard to complete his assignment before more bodies pile up. About the Author Micki Pierce grew up in Bordentown, NJ, where she spent much of her childhood reading mysteries set in the early half of the twentieth century. As a reader and a writer, her focus is on period detective fiction. Researching and writing about the hardships of American life in the 1930's started out as just a hobby. Riding around the Midwest, on her husband's Harley-Davidson, fueled her interest in the Mother Road. Creating a detective series about a mysterious, motorcycle-riding private eye and the characters he meets along the famous highway is the result. The Route 66 Detective in Missouri is her debut.
