The Rooster and the Faded Rose

Overview

Two men are kidnapped in Mexico for political purposes in the US. The Smithson Evermore Group in conjunction with federal agencies in Mexico and Canada begin the search and discover the kidnapping is related to an elaborate scheme to alter U.S. policy on immigration and human trafficking. In the course of the investigation, we follow women trafficked into Canada and the U.S. from Asia and Central America through false promises. In the end, the traffickers' lack of regard for human life results in their identification and capture. It is a wild ride that begins in China, Mexico, and Honduras and ends in upstate New York.

Author Information

Vance Arnett worked as an applied anthropologist in the justice system for over 35 years. One of his final duties was to serve on a regional task force in the early days of the battle against human trafficking. That experience turned into an endeavor to teach people about how this crime occurs right in front of us each day and this segment of his work is dedicated to raising awareness about modern day slavery.
