Overview

In Macumba and Other Rites, I have broadened the concept of ""Macumba"" to include the many seeming variations of Macumba (and the like) Rites. And whereas some of these stories are potentially a little scary, many are the stuff of profound memories and even hint at purposeful efforts on the part of consciousness to be recognized, acknowledged, and even remembered. Some of the accounts featured in this book are tales from times long gone. Many Macumba rituals appear to be intentionally designed to make people aware of and remember them. And other variations in ceremonies and rites seem to consist of endless, repeating cycles that are like replays, even including apparent discarnate entities, which seemingly try over and over to resolve conflicts from times long past through interactions and seeming possessions. Yes, we are often the objects of Macumba, whether on our travels or on our own home turf. It, therefore, behooves us to think of this book as not only a compendium of such variants that we may experience in our lives, but perhaps we ought to consider the myriad of Macumba rites and their variants as alternate realities which conjoin or overlap with our own in a shared universe of sorts? Or maybe even a so-called ""Contiguous Universe"" no less? In this compendium of Macumba-like rites and rituals, we broaden our view of not only what we typically consider our Judeo-Christian experiences, but also to include other space-time variants of reality in the form of heretofore predominantly ignored practices. In The Road to Strange: Macumba and Other Rites, be prepared to explore the many stories of variants of the human experience and much more. Such ""Macumba"" and its related variants may never happen expressly to you. Still, assuredly, something strange of an inordinate space-time manifestation may invariably happen to a friend, a neighbor, or perhaps even a relative. If but one of these tales of someone's Macumba variant event is true, what then? One must conclude that so many other reports of similar paranormal-related space-time encounters may, likewise, undoubtedly be true.
