Written across several decades the poems feature places ranging from Northampton and Montague, Massachussetts to Treasure Island, Florida, Lisbon, Spoleto, Havana, Manhattan, Seattle, Reykjavik in Iceland, to Mount Teide (which inspired the Surrealists) on the volcanic island Tenerife, the highest point of any island in the Atlantic Ocean.
