There is no feeling like being offered your dream job. In The Risk Manager , this dream job turns out to be a nightmare. Rock Cartwright is offered his dream job in Austin Texas as the risk manager of a growing privately owned manufacturing company who just received funding for a Department of Defense contract. His boss and company CEO, Jim Williams, seems like a great guy. When Jim decides to run for Governor, he needs something to distinguish him in the political arena. He takes a crazy risk and manipulates others to build his fame. But he also needs a fall guy. Rock is blindsided and discovers the true meaning of loneliness when he is shunned by everyone and is rendered unemployable. In order to restore his life and reputation, he must unearth what really happened, determine if the terrorists acted alone and bring down a sitting Governor, all before he is silenced. The Risk Manager weaves the story of a young professional trying to build his career, a sociopathic CEO, naive business owners, ruthless politicians, and Texas good ole boys, in a thrill ride set against the backdrop of Austin and central Texas. The story is told in a way only a Risk Manager could and only a Texan would.
