OverviewOn September 27, 2017, in Hurricane Irma's aftermath, my son, Austin, passed away from an apparent suicide. Austin died homeless, alone, and last seen in the presence of a convicted sodomist. He was more than his pain or the circumstances surrounding his death. Austin was a talented and insightful man with much to say. I put together this compilation of writings from the last months of his life as a parting gift of sorts. At Austin's life celebration, his brother, Dylan, perfectly captured Austin's spirit and the purpose of this book when he said, ""My brother saw this world in a way that nobody else could. He knew truths that we could not see, and he had difficulties we could not understand. But he also loved. He loved his family and friends fiercely, and he was a savant with children and animals. Perhaps an existential discussion would be the best tribute possible, or maybe a children's tale of wonderment. But instead, I will let his writing speak for him."" More than anything, Austin wanted to be seen and heard as someone of value. Thank you for taking the time to see his heart, hear his words, and honor his humanity. 'The Resurrection Circle: A Son's Pain, ' focuses on Austin's writing. For a first-hand account of his passing, please read the companion book, ""The Resurrection Circle: A Mother's Grief."" He passed away on September 27, 2017. This book and 'A Son's Pain' are his first published works, both written post-mortem. Above all else, Rain is a human being trying to add value to the world while living her truth. During her young to middle adult years, that meant being a devoted wife, full-time mother of two boys, and working professional with over 20 years of experience in marketing, nonprofit, wellness, and yoga. Now in her 50's, it means using her love of writing, wellness, and spirituality to serve others. Rain seeks to make a difference through her books, speaking, sharing lessons she has learned, shedding light upon uncomfortable truths and alternative perspectives, and speaking out for those who may not have the ability or freedom to speak for themselves. Rain has a B.A. in Philosophy from SUNY Binghamton. She also has formally studied Trauma, energy healing, and herbalism. She is certified as a teacher of Yoga, Pilates, Barre, Zumba, Pound Fitness, and a Personal Trainer. Rain believes in the power of faith, the importance of working toward the highest good, and in God's law over arbitrary, often corrupt, manmade law. I love the outdoors, dancing, the arts, science fiction, and anything that dares to push the envelope or explore the world beyond our limited perception of reality. Mr. Shah is an artist, writer, and teacher. He is particularly interested in capturing the beauty and struggle of those faced with extreme poverty and hardship.
