The Rescued Cat That was Chipped is based on the author's personal experience! This book's purpose is to recognize the need to chip our animal friends for identification and safety purposes. The American Humane Association estimates that 1 out of 3 pets become lost at some point in their lifetime. Close to 10 million dogs and cats are lost or stolen in the US every year. Less than 20% of lost pets are reunited with their owners. More than 80% are never found, and about 9.5 million pets that wind up in shelters in the US are euthanized. Debi says, I want to lend a voice to the animals missing, lost, or in need on the streets. A chipped animal gains a voice to connect to its owners or help find a loving home.
