OverviewThe monograph is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the religious and political situation in Khorasan and Maverannahr in the XI - early XIII centuries. The relevance of the study is conditioned by the special role of Islam in shaping the worldview, culture and political institutions of the Tajik people, as well as modern social challenges associated with religious discourses and risks of radicalization. The author substantiates the need to refer to historical sources in Arabic and Persian, in which religion and politics are presented as interrelated elements of social life. Particular attention is paid to insufficiently studied aspects of Tajik religious life, the interaction between sedentary and nomadic populations, and the use of religion as an instrument of power and social mobilization. The work is based on a wide range of primary sources and scientific literature and is aimed at rethinking the historical heritage in order to use it to respond to the challenges of modernity. The monograph is of interest to historians, religious studies, cultural studies, as well as specialists in political science and Islamic studies.
