An account of the religious beliefs and practices of the Yoruba peoples of Southern Nigeria. Especially in relation to the religion of ancient Egypt. A comprehensive study of Yoruba, including a survey of the major Orishas, the deified spirits of ancestors and other spirits, the minor Orishas, details of priesthood and worship, the Yoruba conception of human beings, magic in Yorubaland, and survival of hieroglyphics, emblems and other symbols. Jonathan Olumide Lucas was a Nigerian clergyman, educator and historian who is known for his work on the history of Yoruba traditional religion.
