OverviewNumerous factors, the most important of which is education through the school system, traditionally influence social success. Nowadays, however, the material affluence advocated by the development of science and technology in the modern world tends to take precedence over moral education. The aim of this research is to promote moral education. How can we ensure the promotion of moral education among Benin's learners in their quest for material social success? Using a qualitative approach based on the techniques of observation of facts in their natural environment, and interviews (semi-directed interviews) with inspectors and educational advisors, this research is deeply rooted in Émile Durkheim's moral theory. The results show the primacy of the unbridled quest for early material affluence over morality in all educational endeavors, due to public opinion's somewhat too benevolent view of the prevailing material environment. This situation explains the arid nature of today's teaching/learning process, and poses new challenges.
