He spent time as a railway fireman, a longshoreman, a long-distance truck driver, a bus driver, a postmaster, and a stand-up entertainer, all before turning his attention to writing full time. He wrote his first novel, Redwall, for the children at a school for the blind in Liverpool. Since 1986, his descriptive style of writing has captivated readers from ages eight to eighty. His books have won international awards and acclaim and have been made into a TV series. Christopher Denise is an award-winning children's book illustrator. He is the artist behind The Great Redwall Feast and A Redwall Winter's Tale, as well as more than twenty other beautiful books for young readers.
