How far would you go to take back a dream that was stolen from you? Making movies is Adrienne Monet's whole life. But her best film was dumped after a studio takeover by male executives who were blind to her genius, condemning her to years of career frustration and identity crisis. Then she's hired to adapt an esteemed Off-Broadway play. To make the film would restore her career, but the director Egon Swift, a maker of violent, sexist box-office hits, is counting on the film to upgrade his sordid reputation. Frustrated, Adrienne tells him he's out of his depth and should step aside. He flies into a rage and assaults her and is mortally wounded when she defends herself. She escapes unseen-so far. The studio agrees to let her rescue the production.
