Overview

Science & Philosophy: A strange and fascinating journey of ideas laced with wry humor and unforgettable images. The book introduces the quincunx, a simple geometric pattern that somehow opens up a completely novel way of thinking about anything and everything. With this one tiny idea in hand the author bridges the gap that normally separates physics from metaphysics, matter from consciousness, body from mind, Western from Eastern thought. The narrative moves seamlessly between questions considered to be matters of hard science and those we often think of as lying beyond rational thought. One minute it's solving Einstein's conundrum known as the twins problem ; the next, it's offering a rational basis for astrology, ESP, or the mysterious oriental energy called qi. It even takes the time to definitively account for the differences between men and women! The book closes by addressing the real significance of 2012, the Mayan calendar, and the Fire Age, which we have just entered.

Author Information

Eulalio Paul Cane studied physics, mathematics, philosophy, and religion before earning a degree in computer science (artificial intelligence). He has devoted over twenty years to various practices of meditation, yoga, qigong, and martial arts, and to learning the traditional living skills of Native America. He solved the universe while living in the desert southwest, though he doesn't think the two are necessarily related.
