I personally agree with the often-stated traits of leadership as being outgoing, high energy, even loud. What this book reminds us of is the quiet leader - calm, confident, and guided by deep inner conviction. It reminds me of Richie McCaw, the All Black captain who led with determination and example, not volume. Two chapters especially struck me. ""The Myth of the Loud Leader"" questions the dominance of extrovert ideals in leadership, highlighting reflection and patience - qualities that resonate with aura. Later, ""Rewriting the Narrative - From 'Too Quiet' to Powerful"" challenges cultural labels of being ""too quiet,"" showing how language and identity intertwine. As someone interested in culture and reo (language), I found this perspective useful. This isn't just a business manual; it's a reminder that leadership has many forms.
