OverviewProject Management is all about delivering a Scope in a compressed amount of time for a given cost and a set quality. This Weekly Journal is meant to help facilitate the project manager's week. Not just a weekly planner, this is a tool to help PM's focus on items to do, priorities, continuous improvement and team moral. Remember: projects have an end date, by definition, but relationships are continuous, that's why there is a specific section in this journal to focus on gratitude each week. We hope you find this journal useful. USE OF THIS JOURNAL This journal's purpose is to organize and simplify a Project Manager's week. The journal is oriented around 4 key formats: Weekly View, Meeting Notes & Actions, Week in Review, New Ideas and a Moment of Gratitude. Weekly View Each week starts with a Weekly View which intended to be filled in on the last day of the prior week or the morning of the first day of the week. It is suggested that the Project Manager manage their to-do's by knowing what is the top 5 priority items for the week and there is room to log other tasks that are needed, or that come up. And lastly a reported Meeting Notes There are 6 meeting notes sections each week where critical meeting notes are to be captured. If you are facilitating the meeting then the agenda portion should be filled in ahead of time to enable efficient use of time and consideration on how topics should be approached. At the conclusion of the meeting action items, with owner and due date, should be noted. If a regularly scheduled meeting renders no action, it should be considered for cancelation. Week in Review Weekly reflection helps identify areas that can be improved and challenges that may need additional thought or attention. The week in review section attempts to encourage celebration of successes and noting items for improvement. The Need Help section is an opportunity to capture items to seek outside advice on. Too often Project Managers isolate themselves and don't seek help or advice from others. Asking others for helps grows that relationship and can help grow your network. Lastly, the Actions for Next Week section is establishes items that should be on the to-do list for next week. New Ideas and Gratitude The New Ideas and Gratitude sections are meant to be visited throughout the week as new ideas or actions that are appreciated occur. Be sure to follow up on both the new ideas and gratitude. New ideas need actions and first steps to bring them to fruition. Letting people know that you appreciate their efforts and specifically highlight actions that helped your week will help grow those relationships and help others feel good about the work they are achieving. Gratitude pays dividends when the tough times come.
