The Profession of Nursing: A Foundation for Caring in Technology-Driven Settings

Overview

The Profession of Nursing: A Foundation for Caring in Technology-Driven Settings creates excitement about a nursing career for those just entering the profession and rekindles the flame for nurses returning to the academic setting. The book moves from nursing's roots to its future and areas of potential expansion. It gives clear insight into what a nurse is and what nurses do with emphasis on working within technology-driven settings. The view of nursing as a profession is validated through evidence-based outcomes. The eighteen chapters introduce readers to the building blocks of professional nursing, including the scope of nursing practice, acute and chronic care, healthcare delivery, various clinical settings, patient rights, problem solving, ethics, politics, education, leadership, nursing theory, evidence-based nursing practice, and transitioning to the profession. The second edition features a new focus on working within technology-driven settings, new chapters that cover core values in nursing and advocacy and leadership, new tables exploring the various aspects of nursing, and more than 50 new figures and images. The book is designed for nursing students, offering guidance as they move from academic preparation into clinical practice. It supports students through the transition to professional roles and promotes successful licensure as nurses.
