OverviewIt is becoming increasingly clear that the way in which our society treats our planet and our people needs to change. In this book, I argue that the state of affairs from which we are eager to escape is that of a money-based, capitalist society, and that many of our environmental and social problems stem from a focus on monetary profit at the expense of more essential components of human wellbeing. At the heart of our society is a fundamental misnomer: the conviction that money is a necessary commodity, that it has worth in and of itself and that we should be concerned with 'making' money. This work calls for new ways of organising our economy that focus instead on what is truly important: providing a safe, healthy and fulfilling life for all.
