It also examines the often confusing question of operational control and responsible party: which of the two carriers involved in wet leasing, contracting or operating carrier is liable to the passengers and third parties and accountable to the regulatory authorities for the safe, secure and efficient operation of the aircraft and responsible for the aircraft maintenance, airworthiness, personnel licensing, insurance and general operational control. The book examines aircraft wet leasing from the perspective of the airline lessor and the airline lessee. Andy Oji is a Legal Practitioner and partner at COSMOLAWS, a leading aviation law and commercial arbitration practice based in Lagos, Nigeria, where he focuses on aircraft leasing and financing, aviation catastrophe work, complex multi-jurisdictional claims arising from aircraft accidents and advising airlines on capital, aircraft type and general risk requirement planning for effective, efficient and profitable deployment of critical aircraft assets. He also devotes his time to commercial and investment arbitration and managing large and complex disputes.
